Are we enough? | Kisan march

ABOUT

In February 2019, a historic event unfolded in Maharashtra, India, as 40-50,000 farmers embarked on a 180 km march from Nasik to the Mumbai Vidhan Sabha (Legislative Assembly). This peaceful protest marked the largest of its kind in the country, a poignant demonstration of unity and collective voices seeking fulfillment of their demands. As a Mumbai resident, I closely observed the Kisan March, where the stark disparities within the nation became glaringly apparent.

The red flags representing the All India Kisan Sabha streamed into Mumbai, symbolising the farmers' resilience and determination. While tales of agricultural hardships were ever-present, the march brought them uncomfortably close. Despite being a country predominantly reliant on agriculture for economic sustenance, there exists a glaring lack of awareness, empathy, and respect for those who sustain us—the very individuals who keep the nation alive.
